Balston (1951) p.11 states that Harold Curwen designed this book, before Oliver Simon's arrival at Plaistow.

John Hay Maitland Hardyman, b.1894, a student of Fettes College, Edinburgh, enrolled Aug 1914 as a private in the Somerset Light Infantry. By 1917 he was the Brigade Major, awarded the M.C. 1917, D.S.O. 1918, killed in action 24/Aug/1918. He is listed as a poet by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
