Notes

Publisher's imprint: F1v: THE WESTMINSTER PRESS | 411a HARROW ROAD | LONDON, W.; see Simon 1956 p.17-20 on this order from Daniel O'Connor; B.L. catalogue implies Fraser was translator as well as artist.

the first Curwen Press book with coloured line block illustrations, Gilmour 1977, p.41; B.L. copy lacks inserts before B1 & D3, the latter possibly stolen.

Dedication: Insert before B1, dated Christmas 1921, bears dedicatory verses to Princess Mary (Princess Royal) on her forthcoming marriage. She married on the 28th February 1922.

Douglas Ball reported 25/Feb/1977 that Aberystwyth holds a variant, with no full-page inserted illustration in D; the dedicatory verses are on verso of title-page, conjugate with [A]1.

One of the books shown in J. Curwen & Sons Centenary Exhibition 1963 (see Ab7) in Bloomsbury.

The first printing of this book was by Gerard Meynell at the Westminster Press, see Webb and Skipwith, 2009 p.20.
