Crown 4o: 9¾" × 7⅛" trimmed, white laid, no mark; 14pt. Kennerley with dropped initials; from [4]4 to [12]3 (sections [5-12]) pairs of guards are sewn in centre and between inner and outer pairs, to balance the thickness of the portrait plates; sepia photogravures tipped onto rectos by top edges; casing, spine green cloth, printed paper label: ‘[row of 5 flowers] | THE | BOOK | OF | FAIR | WOMEN | [row of flowers]’, boards white laid paper printed with pattern in orange, printed paper label: ‘[within border of flowers] THE BOOK OF | FAIR WOMEN | BY E.
