Technical description

Royal 8o: top edge only trimmed and gilt, 10" × 6¼", white laid, lion rampant + BERGISCH GLADBACH; 14pt. Baskerville with some ligatures; title-page and imprint are Caslon; a row of urns in red like the t.p. block at head of pp.7 and 25; casing, spine red buckram, gold-blocked up: ‘A REPLY TO Z’; boards black buckram, on upper cover a gold fillet down the edge of the red buckram; printed dust-jacket.

Notes

According to the B.L. catalogue Z has now been identified as John Wilson, author of an article which appeared August 1818 in Blackwood's Magazine; This essay is a reply to that article.
