Technical description

Imperial 4o: 13¾" × 10", top edge only trimmed and gilt, white laid, no mark, insert in [a] white wove, no mark, and tissue leaf after; 14pt. Caslon, with 4-line dropped initials; insert in [a] bears tipped-on Medici print in colour; casing, glazed white buckram on bevelled boards, black leather labels on spine, gold-blocked [near head]: ‘SANDRO | BOTTICELLI | YUKIO | YASHIRO | VOLUME I’, and on a further label at foot: ‘[within a double rule] MEDICI SOCIETY’; printed dust-jacket.

Caslon; collotype illustrations on rectos of wove leaves in [2-25]; protective tissues bear serial numbers of plates, and caption also in Caslon, except where it is a detail of an previous plate; captions below the plates are in Garamond; casing and labels as for Hx1 but: ‘VOLUME II’; printed dust-jacket.
