6" × 3¾", cream laid, watermarked Nonesuch, all edges untrimmed; 10pt. Baskerville; frontispiece + 8 illustrations, some half-page, printed from woodcuts recut by W. M. R. Quick from those of the 1719 edition, based on the original 1697 French publication. and hand-coloured through stencils by the Curwen Press, on A2v and pp.19, 24, 30, 41, 62, 72, 87, 101; decorative lozenges (matching those on t.p.) either side of page numbers or as a foot-line; casing, quarter blue buckram, gold-blocked on spine: ‘MOTHER | GOOSE’, boards Chinese tinsel paper, glassine dust-jacket.
