Technical description

Foolscap 2o: 13¼" × 8¼", trimmed, artificial head- and tail-bands, top edge only gilt, white wove, P.M.P; 14pt. Baskerville with 7-line initials; line block illustrations; casing, full parchment, black leather spine label gold-blocked: ‘[within ruled frame] THE | APOCRYPHA | [flower] | CRESSET | PRESS’.

Foolscap 2o: 13 ¼"× 8½", top edge only trimmed and gilt, sewn head- and tail-bands, white wove, F J Head & Co; type and illustrations as La; sewn on 5 cords, full bound in black vellum, spine gold-blocked: ‘THE | APOCRYPHA | CRESSET | PRESS’; the volume is provided with a special fleece-lined case of 2 compartments, the smaller containing a portfolio with 14 proofs of illustrations in the book, on tissue, each proof protected by an individual folder and most of them signed by the artists; portfolio and case covered in black buckram.
