Notes

Author was Secretary of the Académie des Sciences, Paris, 1697.

Missing from Curwen Library and 1963 handlist; added at suggestion of Douglas Ball and Pat Gilmour Ac1; drawn to my attention by Alan Guest; Dreyfus 1981 cat.65 identifies the type as Janson; it seems that the Nonesuch Press held a few cases of Janson as founder's type for hand-setting.

B.L. copy numbered 1590, Alan Guest's 121, Nottingham 575, 1106.

Shown at the Zwemmer Gallery 1930 (see Mzi).
