Medium 8o: 9¼" × 5¾", trimmed, artificial head- and tail-bands, white laid, no mark, inserted leaves of loaded paper; 12(+2)pt. Baskerville; halftone illustrations; casing, rust-coloured buckram, spine gold-blocked: ‘A FAMILY | RECORD | * | Privately | Printed’, and on upper cover: ‘[coat of arms and crest of Earl of Wemyss]’ as on title-page.

Note

Hugo Charteris, 11th Earl of Wemyss, and his wife Mary Constance were both members of 'The Souls'; the book includes letters from the Front by their sons, Hugo Francis and Yvo Alan.
