Technical description

Imperial 8o: 11" × 7½", top edge only trimmed and gilt, artificial headband,white wove, no mark; 16(+2)pt. Baskerville italic; collotype illustrations full-page, headpieces and tailpieces; casing, white buckram gold-blocked up spine: ‘* THE NEXT VOLUME BY EDWARD JAMES *’, and on upper cover, 3 groups of small stars, and on lower cover 9 groups of 16 stars, of which 4 in each group are large; patent cellophane dust-jacket.

Notes

The title-page is an engraving reproduced by collotype.

Curwen Works note, undated, says 525 ordinary, 25 de luxe.

Edward James was a surrealist poet.

Technical description

As Ok but: red white and blue head and tail bands, white wove, Curwen Press + Unicorn; binding by Wood, London, in blue levant morocco on 5 cords, elaborate gold-tooled design on upper cover, 5 bands on spine, on-laid in red and white; slip-case covered in blue cloth, with blue morocco edges and fleecy lining.
