Technical description

Demy 4o: 11" × 8¼", untrimmed,white wove, no mark; 14(+6)pt. Baskerville; photographs tipped onto rectos of [4-19] which have the folds bulked to balance the thickness of the photographs; each of these sections is made of 2 single leaves, each folded to provide a stub; the stub of f1 appears after f2, that of f2 between it and f1; [1]3r and [20]1r bear colour halftone illustrations; [3] has 1 leaf with stub preceding; onto this stub is tipped a once-folded diagram map printed red blue and orange; around the hinge of this section lies an extra guard; casing, red-brown leather, spine gold-blocked with the Underground wheel and bar logo, and on upper cover: at top right: Prince of Wales's feathers, and broad pattern of fillets on left margin and foot; slip-case with fleecy lining, cloth covering, and printed label.
