[1-9]4; after [2]3 and [2]4 are inserted pairs of leaves thrown out from the hinge on linen guards; [5-9] have guards around the hinge of the outer and inner pair of leaves in each section, to balance the bulk of the tipped-on illustrations; 4-leaf sewn endleaves front and back.

Crown 4o: 10" × 7½", trimmed, white wove, Curwen Press + unicorn; 12(+2)pt. Bembo; photographic prints tipped on to rectos from [5]3 to [9]3; armorial bearings of Sir Robert Sterling tipped on to [3]2, but lacking in Curwen copy; casing, green buckram, gold-blocked up spine: ‘THE STERLINGS’.
Curwen copy examined was un-numbered and lacked arms on [3]2 and photo on [7]4.
