Of the title poem Randall Jarrell wrote "'The Pangolin' may be (Moore's) best poem; it is certainly one of the most moving, honest, and haunting poems that anyone has written in our century" Poetry and The Age, p.182.
T.S. Eliot, introducing her Selected Poems 1935, wrote'Miss Moore is, I believe, one of those few who have done the language some service in my lifetime.'.
