Medium 4o: 12" × 9", trimmed, heavy white wove, no mark; 16(+2)pt. Baskerville; halftones; card wrappers, but the endleaves front and back are not pasted down onto the card, only tipped on; around card wrapper is a cover of flecked paper, mostly grey, turned in on all sides to enclose the card and the outer endleaf; cover printed up spine: ‘PHAIDON PRESS [space] LEO VAN PUYVELDE : THE GENIUS OF FLEMISH ART’, and on upper wrapper, set in Jan van Krimpen's titling: ‘[within ruled border, lines 1-5 in red] THE GENIUS OF FLEMISH ART BY LEO VAN PUYVELDE PHAIDON PRESS’.
