Of this edition of The Rivals fifteen hundred copies have been made for the members of the Limited Editions Club by Oliver Simon at The Curwen Press in London, the illustrations having been engraved in copper by Rene ben Sussan and both the pulls from the copperplates and the hand-colouring having been done under the artist's supervision in Paris. This copy is number [blank line for serial number] and it is signed by [blank line for artist's signature]

Imperial 8o: 10¾" × 6¾", trimmed, artificial head- and tail-bands, white wove, no mark; inserts of thicker wove with mark F K RIVI, unidentified; 14(+2)pt. Ehrhardt; for the text of the play the type-setting is identical to ZKp from p.7 onwards, except that the pages are re-numbered (p.7 = ZKp p.23); much of the preliminaries (Contents, Dramatis personae, Prologues, etc.) have probably been re-used without alteration, but some changes of initial letters etc. have been made; hand-coloured engravings on inserts (see Limitation); casing, yellow buckram, gold-blocked up spine: ‘SHERIDAN ; THE RIVALS’; tissue wrapper.
Curwen copy examined was un-numbered, but signed "Ben Sussan".
