Ehrhardt coloured initials to chapters, and deorations; line block illustrations in black and colour; casing, light grey canvas(?) blocked down spine with 6½" black panel, gold-blocked: ‘The Wonderful History of Peter Schlemihl’ with decorations at either end of black panel, on upper cover a block: a man holding his fist to his head; tissue dust-jacket, slip-case covered in turquoise paper.
Adalbert von Chamisso (d.1838) German author, poet and botanist, published this story in 1814.
Curwen copy examined was numbered A 306; B.L. copy was numbered A 336.
