Garamond; with 7-line decorative initials; sections [F-X], thinner white loaded paper calendered both sides bearing line blocks or halftone illustrations on every recto; around each section are inserted single leaves (not conjugate pairs) of heavier white loaded paper (polished one side only) made into pairs, each recto bearing a colour illustration; binding, spine black leather gold-blocked: ‘[fillets] | The | ARTIST'S | LONDON | In Eighty | Contem- | porary | Pictures | [fillets] | JOHN | [block: a castle] | CASTLE | [fillets]’, bevelled boards blue cloth, upper cover blocked with rectangular panel in blind, and gold-lettering within: ‘The ARTIST'S | LONDON’ 3 fillets round edges of upper board.

Curwen copy lacks lithograph and etching frontispieces, and was also un-numbered; B.L. copy rebound.
