See Simon (1973) p.250: Catalogue raisonné desribes the binding as full Levant morocco, priced 35 guineas (paper) = £36 15s., 200 guineas (vellum) = £210; see also Balston (1951) pp.31-32 'Few books can ever have presented more problems to the typographer and the artist'.
In the Publisher's note the Hebrew type is referred to as "Canon Hebreeuws", the latter word obviously naming the script. Canon refers solely to the size of the type and was approximately 48pt; 43pt. was calculated by measurement of the printed text.
Alan Powers' Powers, (2008) p.35 reference to this book as "a lavish illustrated edition ... by Ben Sussan and Albert Rutherston", should have read "by Cecil Roth and Albert Rutherston".
Curwen copy was numbered 85; National Library of Scotland copy is numbered 66, and un-signed; binder's stamp at foot of lower pastedown; examined by Stephen Massil.
