It is clear that the production of ZHi, like that of ZFh, was disrupted by World War II. A chronology can be built on Dreyfus 1981 cat.117a and other sources as follows:
See Dreyfus 1981 cat.117b: 'published 1950', but no day or month given; 'Apparently not published in England' [therefore no legal deposit required there!]; the 9th (and last in this form) of the Ten Great French Romances, printed by the Ferris Printing Co. New York, on laid paper made specially by the Crocker-Burbank Paper Co., Massachusetts; illustrations printed black on a cream tint. Dreyfus details choices of translators and editor, damage to stereos while being shipped across the Atlantic, and how Brissaud's illustrations were reproduced by Schmied after Paris was liberated, used in colour for this April 1950 edition ZHi, then slightly reduced and used (in black on cream) for the Heritage/Nonesuch edition ZHia. No price stated.
