Garamond with 7-line dropped decorative initials, 'redrawn 16th-century French initial letters' see Simon (1956) p.30; many line block illustrations throughout; illustrative matter is tipped on to N2v, [S]2r, 3r, 4r, [T]1r, 2r, 6r, collotypes on inserts after [A]4 and G2; casing, black buckram, spine gold-blocked: ‘THE FLEURON No.1.1923’
Erratum slip tipped onto [A]1r; Curwen Library index gave total printing of 125, but Simon (1956) p.30 says 120; de luxe edition 3 guineas.
Simon and Morison planned to have 8 issues of The Fleuron but only 7 were actually published; see Moran 1971 pp.81-92; Harley concurs (Harley 1970 p.17).
For the other issues see 2 Gl, 3 Gm, IV Hp; issues V and VI were edited by Stanley Morison and printed at Cambridge University Press.
