Technical description

Demy 8o: 8½" × 5½", trimmed, white wove, no mark with rougher surface than ZJd; 16(+2)pt. Baskerville, red decorative initials to chapters; line block illustrations on inserts; halftone illustrations throughout on rectos; casing, buff buckram, spine red leather label as ZJd but for changed volume number; printed dust-jacket.

Note

B.L. catalogue states their copy is no.4 of 50 on mould-made paper, specially bound; Curwen library copy was un-numbered; for volume 1 see ZJd; volume 3 was not printed till 1957, so fell outside the scope of the 1963 handlist but has been added during the current revision; see ZOk.
