Demy 8o: 8½" × 5½", trimmed, top edge gilt, artificial head- and tail-bands, white wove, HANDMADE; 12(+1½)pt. Caslon; collotype illustrations on inserts, line block illustrations on text pages; casing, green buckram gold-blocked on spine: ‘MORSE | Acadiensia | Nova | I | Quaritch’; printed dust-jacket.

Notes

Acadia was a former French colony in East Canada, which in 1763 fell to the British,

Curwen library copies were ordinary edition; B.L. copies are special leatherbound edition.

Works note on dust-jacket of Curwen copy gives quantity: 500, date 20/Sep/1935; compared with the Limitation notice this implies more than 100 copies spare!

Format, paper, type, illustrations and casing as Rb1; between sections L and M come 9 folded maps; they are thumb-indexed down the right edges with tags of white buckram printed A, B, B1, C, D, E, F, G, H; A is sewn with L, the remainder are made up into sections in pairs; for example [1] is 2 guards, providing 4 stubs; B and B1 are tipped onto the 1st and 3rd of these stubs; casing, green buckram gold-blocked as Rb1 but volume number II; printed dust-jacket.
